On March 26, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the first match of IPL 2022. In the IPL 2021 final, CSK defeated KKR, and this match gives KKR an opportunity to repay the favour. CSK has won 12 of the 19 matches played between the two teams, while KKR has won only 7.

The IPL 2022 will feature ten teams, with the addition of two new franchises, the Lucknow Supergiants and Gujarat Titans. A total of 74 games will be contested across four stadiums in Maharashtra during the season. 20 matches will be played at Wankhede and DY Patil Stadiums, respectively. On the other hand, both the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai and the MCA Stadium in Pune will hold 15 matches each, with spectators permitted at those venues.

Leading up to the opening match, let us take a look at three CSK players who might make their IPL debut.

Dwaine Pretorius
In the IPL 2022 mega auction, Dwaine Pretorius was one of CSK's international player choice. Questions about Moon Ali's arrival and availability ahead of CSK's season opener have led to the inclusion of the South African all-rounder in the playing XI. He is able to strike the big shots down the order and is a suitable choice with the ball. In T20Is, the 32-year-old also has a fifer.

Rajvardhan Hangargekar
Hangargekar was permitted to participate in the IPL despite being entangled in an age-fraud case and was acquired by CSK in the mega bidding. With both the bat and the ball, the 19-year-old demonstrated his talents and skills. Given his all-round ability with the bat and ball, he might be an excellent replacement for Deepak Chahar, who is out for the bulk of the season. He can only improve as a cricketer under MS Dhoni's leadership.

Hari Nishaanth
With 368 runs from nine games, Nishaanth was the best scorer in the TNPL 2021. CSK took him up for his base price of 20 lakhs. The 25-year-old has spent a lot of time in and around the Tamil Nadu domestic circuit. He is a wicketkeeper as well as an opening batsman. CSK had already selected him in 2020, but he did not receive a match. This season could be Nishaanth’s chance to shine.
