India will host the ODI World Cup in 2023, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has begun preparations. The cricket authority has requested the office-bearers to constitute the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the next year's event, held in October and November. The LOC's formation is expected to be completed by the end of the month.

Furthermore, the BCCI is debating whether or not one of its own should lead the International Cricket Council (ICC) throughout the championship. According to the stream of thought, the ICC chairmanship must come to India because the country is holding the global competition. It's worth noting that India's Sharad Powar led the ICC during the 2011 World Cup, also held in India.

Because the BCCI is friendly with current ICC head Greg Barclay, the board is unlikely to take any action to oust him. After all, during the T20 World Cup last year, Barclay was quite helpful to the Indian cricket board. Cricbuzz was in charge of this important news in the meantime. A BCCI member was cited as saying, "The office-bearers have been authorised to constitute the LOC."

It's worth noting that the BCCI played a crucial role in Barclays appointment as ICC president. As a result, the Indian cricket board has few reasons to remove him from his position as captain. Barclays two-year term, though, is coming to an end this year. However, it's unclear if his current contract will expire in December 2020, when he was elected, or during the ICC's annual session in July. The current chairman is eligible for two further two-year terms according to the rules.

Returning to the BCCI's Local Organising Committee, acting CEO Hemang Amin and GM Gaurav Saxena are among the frontrunners for the directorship of the event. Because Amin is also managing the IPL, Saxena will likely take up the pivotal role.
