Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, has climbed to 15th place in the ICC ODI Batters Rankings, surpassing Indian great Sachin Tendulkar. Following his memorable performance against Australia in their home series, he has garnered some significant points in recent events.

Following a 1-0 loss in the three-match Test series, Azam led his team from the start in the three-match ODI series, hitting two hundreds in three games and winning the series 2-1. Azam's rating points increased to 891 following the amazing game, making him the 15th best hitter in the history of the ICC ODI ranking.

Tendulkar, who was previously ranked 15th with 887 points, has now been replaced by Babar Azam, who is now ranked 16th. Sir Viv Richards, the former West Indies' prolific batter, now occupies the top slot in the standings with 935 points. Only one Indian batsman, Virat Kohli, is in the top ten, and he is the only active player from the country. He is ranked No. 6 with 911 points.

In all formats of the game, Babar Azam has been Pakistan's most consistent performer. In 2019, he scored 1092 runs in 20 innings, while in 2020, he scored 221 runs in just three One-Day Internationals. In 2021, he hammered 405 runs in six innings. He has played three innings in the current year, 2022, and has scored 276 runs in that time.

The captain will look to continue his good run in the next ODI series against the West Indies and the Netherlands. Babar Azam is projected to score even more runs when he bats, and he has a good possibility of breaking into the top 10 of the ICC rankings list in the near future. Only two Pakistani cricketers, Zaheer Abbas and Javed Miandad, are ranked higher than Azam, at No. 2 and No. 7, respectively.
