The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) only started for one week, and fans have already witnessed several Indian young players stealing the show on the big stage. One of these players was Ayush Badoni of the Lucknow Super Giants(LSG), who stunned everyone with his excellent achievement against the Gujarat Titans.

With four wickets gone for just 29 runs in 4.3 overs, few expected Badoni to put on the kind of performance he did in his IPL debut. The Indian youngster was his team's second-highest run scorer, scoring 54 runs off just 41 balls, including four fours and three maximums.

Former Irish cricketer Niall O'Brien praised the 22-year-old for his "mature" batting effort against the Gujarat Titans. O’Brien stated on the television show that Badoni had a high level of maturity. He wasn't striking the ball from the centre of the bat, so he relinquished the strike to Deepak Hooda, who actually produced fantastic innings.

After the LSG's star-studded top order fell during the powerplay, Deepak Hooda and Badoni united to help their side record a battling total of 158 runs. Hooda was the main aggressor at the outset, scoring 55 runs off just 41 balls, including six fours and two maximums.

O’Brien added that the Indian duo stitched together an 87-run combination as they edged past Rashid Khan's four-over spell. Deepak Hooda demonstrated his vast experience. Both players did an excellent job with Rashid Khan. They tried to slog sweep with a somewhat straighter bat and introduced the sweep early. Their collaboration was fantastic. On the other side, Deepak Hooda took the pressure from the youngster.

Despite the fact that the new franchise had lost, there were plenty of things to take away. The story of how two Indian kids, Hooda and Badoni, were able to turn around their innings after a disastrous start is at the top of the list.

LSG will face Sunrisers Hyderabad at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai, on 4 April.
