Deepak Hooda of the Lucknow Super Giants(LSG) expressed his regret at not completing the task for his side in the final five overs of their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The clash was held at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai on Monday. After losing early wickets in the powerplay, Hooda and captain KL Rahul put together a fine 51-run partnership to keep LSG's innings afloat.

During his 33-ball tenure in the middle, Hooda performed with a lot of responsibility and produced some beautiful shots, scoring three sixes and as many fours.

After the first innings on Monday, Hooda expressed his thoughts to IPL broadcasters Star Sports. The 26-year-old batter said that innings were solid, but he was saddened that he was unable to capitalise in the final five overs. However, he is content with 170-plus.

Hooda has moved up to third place in the Orange Cap standings, just 17 runs behind Ishan Kishan and Jos Buttler, thanks to his courageous fifty. The Orange Cap, on the other hand, was never on the LSG batter's mind throughout his knock against SRH.

He commented that honestly, the SRH missed out by 17 runs had never came across his mind.

He also shared what his skipper Rahul told him as he walked to bat in a difficult scenario with LSG being three down early.

He added that Rahul and himself were in a good position. They were scoring runs and it was time to cash in. Rahul advised him it was a nice surface and that he should take his time and play straight-bat strokes.

Hooda now has two fifty-plus scores in his first three outings of the season. After earning his India cap earlier this year, the gifted batter claimed his confidence is at an all-time high.

He remarked that self-confidence and self-belief are both important in his opinion. Every day, he prepares himself as if it were a fresh match. It was a respectable score, but the deliveries towards the wicket are slipping a little low and aren't coming on nicely.
