In the T20 international format, Bangladesh has recently struggled with their batting. Last year's T20 World Cup in the Middle East was a disaster, and they haven't beaten a Test-playing team in the shortest format since September. They have lost eight of their past ten games, with their most recent victory coming against Oman and Papua New Guinea.

The Tigers face a significant test ahead of them, with the next World Cup in T20 internationals set for Australia in October-November this year. They will be eager to turn the tables in the two-match series against Afghanistan, which begins on March 3 at home.

The hosts will win the T20 international series after defeating Afghanistan 2-1 in the one-day international series. Still, skipper Mahmudullah warned on the eve of the first game that his team aimed to resolve the powerplay issues plaguing Bangladesh in the shortest format.

The two matches will occur in Dhaka's Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, with Bangladesh behind Afghanistan 2-4 after seven games, one of which was called off due to rain.

Bangladesh has struggled to score quickly on the powerplay. In the previous three-match T20 international series against Pakistan at home, they averaged 25 for 3, 36 for 2, and 33 for 1 in the powerplay, respectively. They were 0-3 in the series.

Mahmudullah has captained Bangladesh in the most T20 internationals (38) but has only led them to victory 15 times, resulting in less than 40% success rate. His batting performance has also been questioned.

Munim Shahriar, a batting prodigy, has been picked in Bangladesh's T20 team, owing to his ability to score freely during the powerplay, a skill he demonstrated in the just ended Bangladesh Premier League.
