McKeon in the contest to become July's best

England's Jonny Bairstow and Sri Lanka's Prabath Jayasuriya are joined by French cricketer Gustav Mckeon in the battle for ICC's July Player of the Month. The young cricketer has been shortlisted for the 'Player of the Month' award after scoring two centuries and a half-century in the first four matches of his international career.

ICC has released the list of the best for the month of July. Bairstow, who won the player of the month award for June, has played well in all three formats. Last month he won the Edgbaston Test against India by scoring a century in both innings. Besides, he scored a half-century in ODIs and T20Is against South Africa.

Jayasuriya made his debut in Test cricket with a match against Australia last month and showed himself with a brilliant performance. The 30-year-old left-arm spinner took 6 wickets in both innings of that Test. He also holds the record for the highest number of wickets on debut as a left-arm spinner.

Then Jayasuriya again took 5 wickets in the first innings of the first Test against Pakistan. As a result, this Sri Lankan has become the first left-arm spinner in the history of 145 years of Test to take a 'Fifer' in all the first three innings of his career. Jayasuriya has taken 29 wickets in three Test matches so far. On the other hand, Mckeon set a world record by scoring two consecutive T20 centuries at the age of 18.
