Netherlands bowler Pieter Seelaar has said goodbye to international cricket. The star has been suffering from back injury for almost a couple of years. He also played with that injury. However, in the first ODI of England, he also felt severe pain in his back. In the end, it can be said being forced by that injury, he decided to retire.

Seelaar is currently the captain of the Dutch. But he is unable to serve the team anymore. In a farewell message, Seelaar said in a voice full of regret, "Since 2020 my back problem has gotten so bad that I have to say with great regret that I can no longer give my all."

Seelaar made his debut in the 2006 Netherlands jersey. Get the leadership of the country in 2018. Seelaar has played 56 ODIs for the Netherlands. Where he has scored 322 runs. He took 55 wickets with the ball. Besides, he has scored 591 runs and taken 58 wickets in his 77-match T20 career.
The Dutch face England in the first ODI on 17 June. Seelaar played in that match. England won the match by setting a world record of 498 runs. Seelaar was not included in the second ODI team due to back pain. So, the match against England, where he took 2 wickets for 83 runs, is the last memory of Seelaar.

Pieter Seelaar will be replaced by Scott Edwards as the Netherlands captain. The 25-year-old wicketkeeper has long been one of the mainstays of the Netherlands batting line-up. Seelaar was also quite successful as the captain. Under him, the Dutch have become the champions in the qualifying round of the 2021 T20 World Cup.
