The Edgbaston Test has become exciting. On the last day, the English came very close to victory. England needed only 199 runs to win on the fifth day, with seven wickets in hand. It became easier for them after great start of their opening partnership. Alex Liz and Jack Crowley, two openers, led England to victory with a pair of 107 runs in the beginning. After Crawley was out, opener Liz also had to be a victim of run out because of the mistake of former England captain Joe Root. Liz, who was dismissed for 56, thinks he missed a hundred because of the Root.

The incident happened when Liz was batting for 56 runs. At that time, Indian sprinter Rabindra Jadeja pushed the ball to the short fine leg. Then he saw that Root had come a long way to take the run. Liz responded to the call and started running towards the bowler. But before he reached, Jadeja broke the wicket with the ball thrown by Mohammad Sami.

Liz was out due to Root and jokingly asked for compensation at the end of the match. At the end of the match, Liz said, ''Root has a lot of hundreds, I'll ask for one. To be honest, it is very difficult to be run out. I have been run out twice so far. Many have become run out for me. I know how bad it feels. I hope Root will return after winning the match. ''

On the fourth day, Root and Johnny Bairstow made a pair of 150 runs. Liz thinks Roots wouldn't have had this opportunity without Ben Stokes' tough spell. "Bowling has brought us back to the match," Liz said. "In a spell in the morning, all four wickets of Stokes returned us to match. This spell will also play a big role in the test results, " he elaborated.

"We could have had to chase 400-500 runs. That was not the case for the bowlers. The bowling in the morning changed everything. I think everyone has confidence. If we can bat positively, we can put pressure on the Indian bowlers."
