T20 matches are aplenty on the upcoming cricket calendar, and fans should ready themselves for some thrilling action in the shortest format. The spotlight will shift to the 11th edition of the BBL after the second half of the IPL and the T20 World Cup. The competition based in Australia will begin on December 5 and conclude on January 28.

One of the eight BBL franchises, the Melbourne Stars, has made an enormous announcement ahead of the season. The team announced the signing of swashbuckling batter Joe Burns on August 3. For the past nine seasons, the 31-year-old has been a member of the Brisbane Heats. He also had an impressive run with the team, hitting 1192 runs with a strike rate of 123.52 in 59 BBL games.

The Australian international, on the other hand, was not at his best last season. Burns had a batting average of just over 20 and a strike rate of just over 120 in 12 games. As a result, his contracts with the Brisbane Heats and Burns were terminated, and he joined the Melbourne Stars. The veteran quarterback has agreed to a deal that will keep him with the team until the end of the 2023-24 season.

Burns admitted that making the decision was difficult, but he is motivated to succeed with his new team. Burns' signing has also pleased Melbourne Stars head coach David Hussey. The 31-year-old, according to the former Australian all-rounder, will add experience and depth to the batting line-up.

Meanwhile, the Stars have yet to win the BBL crown. They made it to the finals three times, but each time they failed to get through the final obstacle. As a result, they'll be adamant about ending their drought in BBL 2021-22.
