On Monday, the Delhi Capitals (DC)
cricketers were all smiles after beating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by three wickets in Dubai to
earn a top-two finish.
Shikhar Dhawan provided the much-needed momentum at the outset of the chase for a 137-run target. Despite CSK regaining game control with a couple of wickets, Shimron Hetmyer ensured DC reached the mark with two balls to spare.
After achieving a double against the three-time champions in IPL 2021, the DC cricketers appeared to be pleased. In the locker room, debutant Ripal Patel was seen replicating ace footballer Cristiano Ronaldo's hallmark celebration.
Marcus Stoinis and Kagiso Rabada were spotted laughing in the dressing room while Axar Patel pulled veteran fast bowler Ishant Sharma's leg.
The Delhi Capitals are one game away from winning their first IPL title, as they sit atop the points table with 20 points after 13 games.
DC was well ahead in the run chase, with only 38 runs needed from the final five overs.
With back-to-back wickets, the Super Kings clawed their way back into the game. Shimron Hetmyer (28*) kept his cool to lead the Capitals to victory.
DC captain Rishabh Pant admitted that it was a hard-fought victory for his team at the end of the game.
