Chris Cairns might not walk again after heart surgeries and spinal stroke

After suffering an aortic dissection earlier this year, former New Zealand all-rounder Chris Cairns believes he is extraordinarily fortunate to be alive. Earlier this year, Cairns underwent four consecutive heart surgeries. Although the surgeries appeared to be successful, the talismanic cricket had problems that resulted in a vertebral stroke. Cairns' life is in grave jeopardy as a result of these difficulties.

The former Blackcaps captain, on the other hand, was fortunate to survive. The 51-year-old is confined to a wheelchair and has no idea if he will ever walk again. He's not even sure if he'll be able to run for office again. Even though Cairns has had a challenging year, the former New Zealand international considers himself fortunate to be alive.

Cairns is in such bad shape that he may have to live the rest of his life in a wheelchair. His wife Melanie says the couple is just "thankful" he's still alive.

On the other hand, Cairns is regarded as one of the best all-rounders to represent New Zealand at the top level. The right-handed hitter could score runs quickly and take crucial wickets, making him even more dangerous. Cairns resigned from international cricket in 2006 after playing in 279 games.
