Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar made a shocking comment in regards to Virat Kohli’s recent announcement. He told the press that Kohli was “forced” to step down as India skipper.

Kohli withdrew as T20I captain last year and was then ousted as ODI captain because the selectors preferred a single skipper for the white-ball format. After 7 years as India's Test skipper, Kohli announced his retirement last week.

Akhtar, who is now in Legends League Cricket, told the press that Kohli did not leave the captaincy but he was forced to. He said that Kohli is in a difficult situation, but he must show what he is capable of. Akhtar explained that Kohli is a wonderful cricketer; he need not overthink it, just get out the field and put his best foot forward. Akhtar remarked that he is an outstanding batsman who has accomplished more than anyone else on the planet and all he has to do now is get out there and go with the usual momentum.

Akhtar commented that Kohli uses his bottom hand a lot, and he believes bottom hand players are the first to come into difficulties when the form is broken. However, he believes Kohli will survive this ordeal. Akhtar also added that he should move on from this and not harbour any resentment toward anyone. He also added that he knows the BCCI will make a sensible judgment in regard to India’s future Test captain.

Last Friday, the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 timetable was released. On October 23, India will face Pakistan in their first game of the event at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

This highly-anticipated tournament will take place between October 16 and November 13. The Men's T20 World Cup will be contested in Australia. The matches will be taking place in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Geelong, Hobart, and Perth.

Akhtar said that in T20, Pakistan is a stronger team than India and they will defeat India once more. He added that it is the Indian press who puts undue pressure on their squad every time the two countries meet in cricket and it is natural for India to lose.
