Fortune Barishal advanced to the BPL final thanks to the bowling of Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Mehedi Hasan Rana in the slog overs. They defeated Comilla Victorians by 10 runs, putting them in the second Qualifier on Wednesday against Chattogram Challengers.

Comilla needed 22 runs off the final two overs, and Rana, the left-arm fast, made it tougher for them by surrendering only four runs in the penultimate over while picking off Faf du Plessis' wicket.

Mujeeb then bowled brilliantly in the last over, dismissing Mahidul Islam Ankon and Sunil Narine for just seven runs. The first Qualifier, in contrast to the high-scoring Eliminator earlier in the day, was more of an unforgiving fight. Both batting lineups collapsed, but Barishal's bowlers ultimately salvaged the day.

They would have imagined an easy pursuit when Moeen Ali hit three sixes in his first 14 balls during Comilla's chase of 144. Nonetheless, Dwayne Bravo showed up and dismissed Moeen for 22 off 15 balls after being hammered for a massive six off the previous ball.

Shafiqul Islam had previously taken two wickets, causing a top-order collapse, and Rana had 2 for 15 in three overs. For Barishal, he came out to bowl the 11th, 17th, and 19th overs. With his 2 for 33, Mujeeb contributed to the success. Previously, Munim Shahriar had given Barishal a flying start with four sixes - all through the arc midwicket and long-on - and two fours through the covers. With 16 runs from the first over of the match, bowled by Nahidul Islam, he set the course for Barishal. Shahriar's finest shot of the day was a slap-pull against Mustafizur Rahman.

On the other end, Chris Gayle was more reserved, but Barishal still went 57 for 0 on the powerplay.

Furthermore, Shakib, who had earned the player-of-the-match award in each of Barishal's previous five matches before Monday, was missing from the lineup. Shakib was wicketless for the very first time in the BPL tournament after scoring only one run with the bat. His departure triggered a batting collapse, with Barishal falling from 84 for 1 to 143 for 8. Despite Shakib's rare off-day, Barishal came back strong with the ball.
